Venue: Astle Park
How wonderful it was to arrive on Friday evening and find the field at Astle already full of caravans.
Friday night is a great time for meeting up with friends who you may not have seen for a while and the quiz lovers got together in the marquee for one of Dave’s quizzes. Sorry guys I was to busy catching up to find out who won!
The early morning mist on Saturday promised good weather and we were not disappointed. Luckily it wasn’t the heat hadn’t built up too much for the child to enjoy their sports. Saturday morning continued with the Boules Competition, well done to Glenda and Nigel
A little later the stalls opened, and it was great to see both adults and children taking part in the various fun and games around the arena. There were lots of different stalls including some favourites, like splat the rat, tombolas, a coconut shy, and a very infuriating game the involved standing up a bottle with a loop on the end of a fishing line. And the generous portions of cakes, given out with the tea have to deserve a mention.
The fun continued with the Its A Knockout, with quite all kinds of obstacles for the teams to get through. And because of the heat, I think most enjoyed getting soaked on the water tube part!!
I didn’t get up to the marquee on Saturday evening, but it sounded like the evening entertainment was being thoroughly enjoyed.
Sunday morning saw the annual pancake race, this year won by Eric, but there were rumours that part of his pancake was eaten but dropped on the floor. I hopw this isn’t true, Eric???
Next was the family marathon, and oh dear, we had one family who I wont name, but we all know who you are, who had to be disqualified as they didn’t go round the post, so in the end the Ogden family where the winners.
The trophies and prizes were given out, the raffle was drawn and another successful meet was closed for LCDA.
If you have never been to one of our Midsummer Meets, it is certainly worth a look, as we try our best to entertain all ages groups, and if the idea for next years theme goes ahead, it could lots of fun.
See you out on the fields
Debbie
