Hey ho another site report for all those who could not make it
In my honest opinion, I was pleasantly surprised by this site. As we had not been here before, the only difficulty we had finding the site was the directions saying bear left just before the site. If one takes this too literally, one ends up on a cobbled road with a dead end
The site itself was well drained and sloping so wheel chocks and bits of wood were out in force. There is a breathtaking view down the valley and the passing traffic on the road bordering the site is minimal and quickly forgotten. It is worth noting that the owner does keep cows on the field as was in evidence, but this was not as bad as some I have visited! Approximately 500 yards across the fields is a railway line but this too is of little disruption as it runs through the trees thus deadening any noise created.
This is a great area for walks; for the energetic you are surrounded by rolling hills and for us lazier types there is a reservoir just down the road which is excellent for tiring the kids and dog. At the far side of the reservoir, we were informed that there was a childrens playground but as this was up another hill, we did not investigate it this time. Whilst there, the owner of the site also mentioned that it is well worth a visit when they have the local flower show on in July.
The Elsan point is easy to find and water was supplied by a bowser. All in all a very good weekend was had as the weather was really warm and the culmination of the meet on Sunday saw a fly over by the Red Arrows! Now you don't get that with other DA's do you?
Thanks to all who attended, although I can't promise an air display next time you know!
