The field is brilliant and in this mans opinion would lend itself to bigger meets. It is over an acre in size and level, the grass was well trimmed (thanks to Steve, the friendly landlord!) and despite two days of solid rain remained well drained and dried up quickly. The field is bounded on all sides by hedgerows and despite being adjacent to a major road, nobody complained of being kept awake by traffic. I would think that if anything, the church clock (which chimes every quarter hour) would be more of a culprit for sleeplessness, but having said this it is amazing how quickly you become accustomed to it.
This site is ideal for good meals c/o the Cotton Arms public house and very cool beer (the latter apparently down to a stream that runs through the cellars, keeping the casks cold). There is a good room for evening get together, complete with it's own bar, dance floor and small stage area and this was tested out on Saturday and given top marks by all.
Just (literally) a stones throw away is the canal and marina which was a great fascination for the kids and a nice place for a gentle stroll and a chat with a few folk living on some of the lovely barges passing through.
It is important to note here that if you missed this meet, there is a permanent site adjacent to the field that we used, which also boasts electric hook-ups for those who need them. I did not check the fees, but judging by the very reasonable rates charged for the rally field, I'm assured that they would not be ridiculous.
Once again thanks to all who supported the meet and I for one hope we visit there again soon...hopefully when its sunny!!
