I have been asked quite a few times about the recipe used for the mulled wine at the Midsummer Meet when we held the Christmas in June, so I thought I would put it up here for everyone.
1/2 pt water 4oz brown sugar 4 cloves 1 cinnamon stick 1 lemon, sliced 1 bottle red wine 1 orange, sliced
Put the water, sugar and spices in a pan and heat till boiling. Remove from the heat and add the lemons. Allow the lemons to steep in the pan for 30 mins.
Add the wine and reheat without letting it boil.
Strain into a bowl and add the orange slices. Serve whilst still hot.
For something a little more 'special' you can add 1/4 cup of Brandy.
I quite often use a slow cooker to keep it in over the Christmas Season, topping it up as required, perfect for unexpected visitors.
